Tweeter

I decided that my twitter followers will receive 10% off their order- cuz that's how I roll!

June, where did you go? I miss you already.

I'm ashamed of myself for June. I accomplished almost nothing. LOL

I did get a page done today. I used Bella paper and stickease, and a felt piece that was one of the challenges for June.

I also caught a rainbow with my phone, I wish my phone would zoom =(

I've been working a lot lately, covering everyone's vacation at the pet store. You can kind of see part of the store in the rainbow pic. =)
I'm putting in my first order tomorrow. It's short of my goal, but I'm not going to get upset over it, I'll get my sales where I want them to be.

June 27, 2009

June has totally slipped away on me.

My deadline I made for myself is July 1st, I'll be putting in my first order then. I'm about $100 away from my goal of $300.

I've gotta talk up the stamp of the month (which I'm in love with). You've Got Flair is a great paisley set that you can get for free when you spend $100. The price goes down for every $25 you spend under $100.

I promised myself to get some stuff done before work today, but I have a splitting headache and I can't bear to look at the computer screen much longer. =*(

Hot Hot Hot

It's so hot. There are no adjectives to describe this heat. I have no air.

On a positive note;

my Vista Print order came today. They said shipping was 21 days, I think it took a week, maybe not even that. I have a pen, 250 business cards, a stamp and 3 window clings. I paid $20 for all of it, including the shipping. I would have just paid shipping, but I didn't like the free window clings they had, so I paid for the super cool looking ones. As soon as I put it on my car I'll take a picture of it. =)

Wha'ts All That Tweeting About?

I know, I know, Twitter sounds so silly, right? Wrong. Think about it.

You’re excited about the project you’re working on, and you want others to feel your excitement. You just got in your goodie box, or CTMH (or insert other company here) is starting a great new promotion or sale. You don’t want to write a whole blog post about it.

Twitter limits you to 140 characters at a time. Short. And. Sweet. Problem sovled.

That, my friend, is your answer right there. Anyone anywhere can look for specific keywords in what you’re tweeting about. The possibilities are endless.

I tweet, do you?

More on Following

We all love followers. It is natural in life and in the blog world. To follow up that post from earlier, I decided to mention a few other give aways for following a blog.

Melissa Burch
Barbara Otten

I'll keep updating this list as I find em!!!

June 23, 2009

Cedar Point was spectacular. It was very hot, and I'm sunburnt, but it was well worth it.

I tweeted all day from Cedar Point. It was fun. www.twitter.com/staticmissi

I took my phone (even though I was terrified it would fall out of my pocket) and took some great pictures. Pretty soon I'll get them printed and make some pages with them. (Not looking forward to editing them and sending them off to the printer, my printer isn't really a photo printer)

I'm a procrastinator. That shouldn't say anything about my projects, that's just who I am as an artist. LOL I put something off and put something off because I feel like I don't have just the right tools to complete something in the exact manor that I want.

Do You Follow?

Did you ever wonder what it means to be a follower of a blog?

I'm sure you've seen the little mini-pictures on the sidebars of many blogs including mine and wondered what it means to "follow" them.

Let me tell you how I think of it.

Do you follow any band? How about a movie star, someone whom you'll go see at the theater no matter what the reviews were? Well, if you are, then you are a fan.

To me, that's what having your name or picture posted as a follower of a blog means, it means you are a fan of that blog. What happens if you do sign on to follow a blog?
Absolutely nothing.
You don't get emails or notifications or even blog posts sent to you. You just get whatever name and picture (or none at all) that you want to show publicly set in a special place on the blog you are following. Now that's nice isn't it?

It's like saying "I like your blog."

Now if you follow my particular blog, Snips N Scraps Papercraft, you get entered in a drawing for a goodie box made by me. It will probably be a mixture of supplies and premade gifts.

Every month I will post the winner and that person can contact me and let me know where to send their gift. Easy, right? So look for the Follow link on the right hand side bar and sign up today .

Early Mornin and Exciting Day

So I am up well before I need to be, that usually happens when I know I have to get up for something less than 7 hours before I go to sleep. It's annoying, but it happens.

I'm working on a sentamental page before I leave the house. Grandma Jesse. I miss her dearly and I found a level 1 page to reflect what reminds me of her. I'll have to leave here pretty soon, but I made some good progress on it.

I work a lot this week, so my postings may be few. I'll post the pic when I'm done with the layout either later tonight or tomorrow. =)

I'm off to Cedar Point, hopefully I won't crash exhausted too early in the evening. LOL

grads, prayers, and fundraisers

I'm with my friend working on Graduation cards for the upcoming open houses to attend this weekend.

I would also like to put out a prayer request for Virginia and her family. Virginia is awaiting biopsy results and may have to undergo surgery. Please pray for healing and strength! Thanks!

Also, I'm going to be doing a PartyLite fundraiser to help with the cost of the doctors bills for Virginia, they do not have insurance. 50% of all profits will go directly to Virginia to pay bills.

Choices for the fundraiser are:

Votive sampler which includes a dozen votives and a holder for $20
available scents (six of each)
champagne pear and tuscan vineyards
grapefruit fresh and strawberry rhubarb
acai berry mist and hinoki steam

Pair of Mini barrel jars for $20
available scents:
french vanilla and essence of lavender
seaside mist and calm waters
strawberry rhubarb and mulberry
bamboo mist and mango tangerine

Bestburn Tins for $15
available scents:
french vanilla
seaside mist
strawberry rhubarb
mulberry

either e-mail me or call me =) Thanks!!!!!

Fall Camp

We're doing a fall camp to scrap and have fun! We're also having problems with the registration form. Here goes nothin'

I don't know if you'll need a google account to open it, but let's give it a try!

Items and Kindness

So at some point last week fancyMelissa and I decided to a little friendly competition in talking to strangers. We pushed on our comfort zones a little, but probably not as much as we could have. I'm saying we cuz I really mean me. =) I talked to five people about being a consultant, but that is because they asked me why I was asking them if they scrapbooked. I went about it a little wrong. It's harder to tell them why they want to be interested when they tell me they aren't scrapbookers.

I <3 Havi. http://www.fluentself.com/blog/stuff/unexpected-kindness/ I promise you'll look at marketing a little different.

June 17, 2009

I awoke to torrential rain at least twice this morning...

For such a gray day, it's still pretty. I wish it was thunderstorm gray though, those days make the best pictures because everything is so green compared to the dark sky...

Here is a pic of the sunflowers I'm making for Jaz's wedding. I really hope she likes them.
I used stamps and then cut them out and assembled them.

June 16, 2009

Today is another gorgeous day.

Beware of "free prints" from stores, there is probably a catch.

I'm trying to do Meijer, and they're trying to charge me for my "50 free prints" because I want to pick them up in the store.

They also want to charge me to ship them to my house. I am leary of having prints shipped to me, the mail isn't always kind to things that shouldn't be bent.

I'll try CVS again... *sigh*

I don't mind paying for my pictures, I just wanted the free ones, well, because they are free.

I need to take more pictures. I've never been a huge picture taker. I want to take pics at Cedar Point, but that sounds like a bad idea, ya know, with the roller coaster thing and all...

I'm still working on wedding favors, sorry. (I'll do some serious scrappin' this week and post pics, I promise. There will have to be a Father's Day card in the works too...

Printer Ink

I occasionally read Smart Money in an effort to change my wanton ways in spending. LOL

July 2009 issue has a great article on page 86; Printer Ink's Murky Math by Anne Kadet.

It talks about how we buy the cheaper printer, but we end up spending three times that printer's cost in ink within three years of purchase. HP takes a big hit when you buy the printer, but they make millions off of the ink sales to make up for it. Anne says that Kodak is probably one of the most economical, despite the actual printer being a little more pricey.

That almost makes me mad enough to throw my printer out the window and buy a nicer one.

Would you like to save now, or later?

Tweeting

I was very hesitant about Twitter at first, thinking I wouldn't like it.

Tim Brownson did a post on trying Twitter, and I decided to follow along.

I am really into it now, I find all kinds of people that have all kinds of things and advice to offer.

My biggest tip to the tweeters out there: Put up a picture of you!!! Some people will not follow you if you have no picture!!

Business Cards

Just a little side note really-

Business cards are a perfect way to show your creativity in a nutshell!

Just grab the perferated kind that you pop in your printer, print desired text on it, and stamp and distress it, embellish it, or whatever else you can dream up to show that your business is a creative one.

If you don't want to print them yourself, use your desired printing company, and as soon as they come in, add a little something to them to make them pop!

June 15, 2009

Wow, June is already half over! When did that happen?! Sorry no post for a few days, I've been all over the place.

I did ask some random people if they scrapbooked.

Most of them said no, but they knew people who did scrapbook. I asked them to give them my card. I know, that is not the best way to do it, but I'm not comfortable enough yet to ask someone for someone else's name and phone number.
That feels a little sleazy to me. (I'm not saying that's what it is, but that's what it feels like.)

My creative juices are definately getting tapped. My friends decided they wanted to scrapbook with me and I let them use all my CTMH stuff. It's like having a gathering without the selling part. They both definately want to order things, they're just not financially able to right now.

I am doing some wedding favors for a friend's upcoming wedding. I'm excited because she is going to let me advertise on the bottom of the favor buckets.

Sure, that's a lot of crafting to do, but not only am I enjoying it, I'm advertising for free and doing a favor for my friend, the bride to be. Everyone wins!

I'm also trying to make a small pet brag book to put on the bulletin board in the pet store I work in. I want people to look at it and say Oooo, I want one! Then they look at the back and say, oh, I can make one myself! Or oh, this person can make one for me!

I'm sure there was more I had to say, but I can't remember it now.

I work six days this week, a fluke of everyone needing vacation. I will try and post at least every other day. Joe's Grandma is in town as well. Gotta lose to Grandma at a few games of cards. =)

Business Building

Being in direct sales is not about you. It is about your customer and all the great things you have to offer to them.

Instead of saying

"Hey, I started my own business, will you have a show for me?"

you could say,

"I have some great things to share with you. How would you like to receive..."

Which would you be more responsive to?

Instead of assuming people know what you're talking about, tell them what you're talking about.

There are so many people in the world and I'll bet ya at least 89% have no idea what you're talking about. Offer up those opportunities!!!

Get excited and believe in what you're saying!!!

team

Yesterday's unit meeting was great fun. Lots of Woohoos and laughs.

We played a name game where Michelle picked two people to stand on either side of a raised quilt and when the quilt was dropped they had to say each other's names out loud. Whoever said the other's name first got to take that person to their team. Whoever had the most people on their team by the end won.
It sounds like a silly game, but we had lots of fun, and it helped me remember some names. =)

We also tried to comb our hair without our elbows lol (Michelle was trying to get us to realize we need eachother)

Today I'm going to work on some layouts with the CTMH Level 1 Bella kit. I have some great pictures of me with my grandma that I'd like to crop.

I'm also going to my best friend's partylite show and taking 7 layer bean dip. I'm going to take CTMH stuff with me for after the show part. Hopefully I can pique some interest!!!

(yes, I am a partylite consultant too, but that is winding down and the consultant and my friend scheduled this date and told me about it. It's all good.)

Challenge!

I'm excited to meet the challenge that fancyMelissa and I issued each other.

We were talking about how it is hard to go up to strangers and ask them about CTMH. We decided to talk to as many people about the great opportunities as possible!!

I hope we both do very well and get lots of bookings! I try to talk to someone new every day anyway, but I will stick it into hyper drive!

Club!

If you'd like to be part of my layout club, I'll send you a new layout idea sheet every month. It tells you exactly what you need and where to put it. (or you can change it up and alter the pattern)

The only requirement to be part of the club is hold a gathering or attend a workshop. Or, refer someone to me that hosts a gathering. =)

My calendar is filling up, but I still have a few choice spots in July. Let me know when you'd like to have yours!

June 9, 2009

I keep thinking that today is really tomorrow, but that the date is yesterday. I don't know what triggered my brain to think it was Wednesday, but the 8th. It is a little disorienting.

I'm going to do a little organizing tonight, tomorrow I'm going to scrap with Denise for a little while before I go to my first CTMH unit meeting. I'm really excited to meet with everyone!!!!

I'll probably get together the papers and photos I want to use tomorrow, that way I'm not wasting half my day deciding what to do with what. (plus it will make me look more organized and professional when I go to scrap with Denise, then she'll be more gungho about having a gathering) lol

I'll post some pictures if I have time tomorrow night =)

Lazy Sunday in a proactive fashion

Sundays are a funny kind of day, especially since all the things I'd like to do involved places that are either closed on Sunday, or close very early on Sunday. I don't mind too much, I'll just do other things!

Working on bookmarks and business cards today!

I'm really excited about the unit meeting on Wednesday!

I'm also excited to play softball later with my best friend since we were little kids. (If the weather holds)

I'll post pictures of my bookmarks after they're finished =)

Happy Birthday Jen

My friend's birthday is on Wednesday, and we are celebrating today. Here is the card I made, I used CTMH Moon Doggie paper, and stamps from Endless Friendship, Fringed Phrases, Treasured Life.

Enjoy!

WHOOOWHACHA!

You'll notice that sometimes my titles don't make any sense. (and maybe sometimes I don't make any sense..)

I am a firm believer that titles are for conformists, but since I can't post to my blog without a title, I am making up random ones if I can't find something in the post to use as the title. So WHOOOWHACHA it is... (kind of a karate sounding sound) LOL

I've been doing a lot of soul searching and decision making. My blog is going to do some changing around, and I've decided to stick to my one Twitter account. twitter.com/staticmissi

I'll be making ongoing changes in my online life, and my real one. CTMH is probably what I needed to jump start myself in the right direction.

Kit Came

My kit came yesterday! I was so excited when I opened the box and the purple tissue paper. The UPS guy probably thought I was nuts. LOL

I am thinking of doing a workshop in the first full week of July, everyone will be back from vacation hopefully. I was told of a place that lets out space for free (which would be totally awesome!) I'm going to look into that tomorrow.

I'm putting together an order that I will probably turn in by the end of next week. This is going to replace my first gathering, everyone seemed to be very busy this next week.

Goals and Degrees

Yay, I just earned my CTMH bachelor's degree. It only took me a couple of days with my gung-ho excitement.

My first goal for my new business is to talk to at least one new person every day about the CTMH opportunities.

DIY mini album

This is a great project aired on PBS and made with CTMH level 1 products!

I am thinking about doing a workshop on this sometime in the near future... Go check out this project and many others on Close To My Heart TV ----> CTMHTV
I'm having a yard sale this weekend!!!
Thursday 11-4, Friday 11-6, Saturday 11-4, Sunday 11-6 (weather permitting of course)

14278 South Barnes Rd between Beard and Lovejoy. I have a Byron (Michigan) address, but I'm about five miles from Byron and 5 miles from Cohoctah.

I'll have toys, books, clothes (child and adult), candles, craft supplies, pet stuff, and other household items, as well as general knick knacks that need to go.

I might be up and at it before 11 am, but Thursday, Friday and Saturday I have to wrap it up as close to on time as possible, work and birthday parties to attend. Please let anyone else know that you think might be interested, I gotta get rid of this stuff!!!!

I wanted to post a link to a map, but Google isn't cooperating and I have a headache. lol

Garage Sales and workshops

I am planning a Garage Sale for this weekend, crafting supplies, candles, clothes, books, and probably a bunch of other odds and ends. More details to come soon.

I will be hosting a Stamping workshop either late this month, or early next month.
It will probably be in the Okemos area, I was thinking about checking into empty spaces at the mall, or seeing if the food court will let us set up on a few tables. I want to make attending as cheap as possible. This will also mean that I want lots of people to attend, but not so many that it seems more like a class than a workshop. More to come on this too.

I was tweeting and I found that CVS is doing up to 50 free prints when you sign up for their picture sharing thing. Free pictures is always good times. http://www.cvsphoto.com/home.aspx
